Harry Potter- Should You Read It To Your Kids?

YES! Absolutely! My sister, Natalie, recently purchased Harry Potter for my little Presli. Natalie is addicted to it and I myself, have never picked up the book before. I started reading the first book to Presli and it was the one with the illustrations in it, which is pretty awesome! There are a few parents who have frowned upon me when I tell them I am reading it to my little seven year old. They obviously have not read it themselves. In my opinion, it gives children such a vibrant imagination! The words are large and the descriptions are fabulous! Some parts are a little scary, but the sound effects I make just make her giggle, so I feel like I am making it a little bit more at ease. Overall, Presli LOVES it and I have turned into a huge HP fan! We are now on the second book and I have to say it is my new favorite over the first one.

Presli PhotoshootΒ

I just need to share how AMAZING my daughter is! I have done a photoshoot of her today and I just have to say I planned on 30 minutes TOPS, but she had over plans. We took over 200 pictures in two and a half hours! I could not get her to stop being a camera hog. Take a look at my beautiful little girl!

Mac & Cheese PizzaΒ

Oh yes! Yes, I did.

Before making this, I was debating on just making PB&J, but the grumbling in my tummy was too real for that. I put together Presli’s love of Mac and cheese mixed with my desperate love of carbs (crust).

First, you make that dough!

Preheat your oven to 375

I used what I think is mostly typical ingredients for crust. I did not use yeast because I was hungry and did not want to wait. This took me about 8 minutes to make.

  • 2-3 cups of flour
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 tablespoons of butter (room temp)
  • 1 cup milk

Just blend these all with either a wooden spoon or a dough mixer until it forms a big dough ball.

I put that aside while I started boiling the eggs noodles.

The cheese sauce ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups of milk
  • 3 tablespoons of flour
  • Spoon full of bacon grease
  • Roughly 6 cups of shredded cheese
  • Salt and pepper

Warm 1 cup of milk with the bacon grease until it slightly bubbles. Mix together remaining milk with the flour until blended and slowly stir it in the bubbling milk.

Keep stiring until there are no more clumps.

Wait for the sauce to get thickened before adding in the cheese and spices.

Mix together egg noodles and sauce.

Going back to your dough…

Flatten it out over flour onto a flat surface. Then you just fold over the edges to make a plump crust edge.

Pour in your Mac and cheese!

I added minced garlic to my crust edges.

I added Panko bread crumbs to the top of the pizza.

Pop it in the oven for 12-15 minutes!

My 7 year old thought it was amazing!

Josh had several pieces, I am guessing it was good.

For myself, I ate 3 pieces and didn’t look back!

Death of a Family Pet and How to Tell Your Child

The sad news of telling your little child that their best friend or family member has passed on can be devastating. This is most often the first time kids come across death if they are at a younger age. Our fish, Tad died after four years. He may only be a fish that you cannot touch or play with, but he was hers and she was his.

Let me start by saying that the thing that shocked me the most was that she was not the least bit upset!

I started off with, “something happened and I know it will make you upset, but we will talk about it and I will answer any questions.”
Her reaction to the death of Tad our little blue beta fish was oh… okay. She went on with her business.

21 Day Fix Extreme Review (with pictures)

Hello Everyone,

I completed the 21 Day Fix Extreme workout 3 weeks ago today and I wanted to share my experience with it. I will start by saying for me, it was very challenging. I do not normally lift weights and jump at the same time. Yes, it was a lot of plyo. Workout one: PLYO! Here is what you get in your little package to lose that fat:

Yes, she is definitely hot! She is a great coach! She is very motivating and makes you believe you can change your body and of course it does not happen overnight. I have to admit that I didn’t follow the diet plan very well. I did have a lot of beer throughout these weeks.. What can I say? Hard days or warm nights. These workouts are all roughly 30 minutes long!

Day One: Plyo Fix Extreme

  1. I do not like Plyo
  2. They really do work, so DO IT!

Day Two: Upper Fix Extreme

  1. I am weak in the arms and I LOVED this workout

Day Three: Pilates Fix Extreme

  1. I have to say I had a hard time with the resistance band 90% of the time

Day Four: Lower Fix Extreme

  1. Autumn’s absolute favorite workout

Day Five: Cardio Fix Extreme

  1. This will have you sweating in the first round!
  2. I’ll most likely do this even after I finish for a good cardio day.

Day Six: Dirty 30 Extreme

  1. WOW! This workout is brilliant! It is fun and rough!

Day Seven: Yoga Extreme

  1. My favorite day…

So, these workouts really get you sweating! You’re working your entire body nearly the entire sessions each day. There’s no rest day! IT’S ONLY 30 MINUTES OF YOUR DAY! That is what I loved most about it. Sooooo drum roll please…. Here is my results:

*Sparkle*Sparkle* I have to say not much changed really. I did get a little bit more definition throughout my body, but I will have to do a few more rounds to tone up everything AND stick to the nutrition. That was what was so hard for me. I give this workout a good ole 5 star! Let me know what you thought of your results with this workout! I love feedback!

Bullying in our young children’s lives.

Presli recently encountered an act of bullying. I never believed it would happen at such a young age. After all first grade is only the beginning. For those of you who think bullying has to be physical, you are wrong. Bullying is verbal attacks as well. I will always stand behind my child in whatever she chooses except hiding information that needs to be heard by an adult. Here goes the story:

Presli is a very vibrant sensitive and sweet girl, so to see her sobbing over how a classmate was treating her is alarming and emotional. There of course have been many times when she comes home from school with the occasional story of this young girl (we’ll call her Anna). Anna has been mocking and making the occasional mean faces towards Presli or trying to get her in trouble. These things the teacher is well aware of and is correcting the issues. This time it was different because there was actual verbal threats from Anna. She told Presli she is the “worst kid in the world” or that she is “dumb”.

I feel like things have been escalating and Presli was afraid to be open about it because she did not want to get this girl in trouble. I had to explain to her that this is serious because we are only in the beginning of her educational career and I will not be silent about it even over the small things. My first reaction was of course e-mailing her teacher in hopes of getting them together the following morning. I felt the situation was under control because she confronted Anna in front of Presli. Anna apologized and a week later, there has been no fights or name calling. I think if you nip things in the butt before they get out of control, the actions will shape children into being respectful of everyone of any age.  To be honest, what I really wanted to do was give that girl a lesson myself, but I feel the teacher is definitely the mediator in this situation.
