Cait’s Look Back on 2017

Another year has come and gone extremely quick! I’ve been #blessed with more than I deserve! Presli is happier than ever and healthy as an ox! Josh is extremely supportive and emotionally giving everyday!

I started the beginning of the year off with ending a job to start real estate.. That was one of the hardest accomplishments I came across because, well that test was incredibly strenuous. It helped me meet some wonderful people and some challenges, but it was financially exhausting.

In the middle of the year, Josh and I talked and decided that furthering my education would be a priority. I’m currently going to school for a forensic scientist, but I figured what the hell, why not go all the way and be a medical examiner, so that is what we are doing! It’ll be a massive investment in all three of our lives, and I can’t ever thank Josh enough for being that rock for me! In the long run, it will pay off for our family.

In July, Lauran and Jon, my sister and brother-in-law got married in ONE of the most beautiful places in the world, Anguilla. The locals there are probably the sweetest people I have ever come across, and it definitely should be on your bucket list if you want to see that crystal clear blue water.

Another exciting adventure was when Josh and I decided to get Presli a kitten, Jett!

Jett and Presli

To begin, Presli has saved up money to purchase a kitten. The deal we made at the beginning of the year was that she earn her kitten with allowance money. Here, we were thinking that it would take eight-year-old years to accomplish saving her money for an extended period of time.

Well, we were wrong. She went and bought everything a kitten could need and more, and she started saving to adopt a kitten from a shelter.

To her colossal astonishment, we were beyond proud of her, so we bought one for her for Christmas. Josh and I spent a total of 9 hours looking for a kitten, and he was our little blessing. He was the only one we could get, and it happened for a reason.

Jett is the sweetest baby boy! We rescued him from a lady on Craigslist. He lived outside in the cold in a bird cage with his other brothers and sisters. He smelled strongly of feces and urine, and he was covered in fleas.

One vet checkup later he’s the happiest, spunkiest, and loveliest little boy in our home.

Soccer practice!

Presli decided that this year was the year for soccer. She is a volleyball girl, but I am glad she is trying other new things.
Her first day of practice, they did a few drills for an hour. She did so well!! I am so proud that she went out there and did her best!

English coaches lead this team and let me just say; they are tuff and amazing!!

She has never learned even the fundamentals of this sport, and she was out there running, dribbling, passing, and taking the ball away! Way to go Pres!

Unicorn Birthday Party

Presli recently endured her 8th birthday and she chose a unicorn themed party! You can never go wrong with a photo booth and a piñata! (Curtesy of my super sister, Natalie!)

The balloons, sequin table runner, banner, pink streamers, and unicorn balloons came from good ole Amazon.

I printed off the photo booth props from Etsy using picture paper. Those came from Abbeygatedesigns for roughly $6.

The unicorn cake topper and unicorn confetti came from Confetti Mama for $5.

My unicorn sign is from etsy shop Polished celebrations for $4 that I printed on photo paper as well. I already had the frames.

Vacation in Anguilla!

If you have never gone to Anguilla, then you need to put it on your bucket list! Seriously the most wonderful locals and the most gorgeous water!! We went to Shoal Bay, Meads Bay, Randevous, and  Sandy Ground.

At Randevous beach, we saw starfish and stingrays while we snorkeled just off the beach.

Favorite eats:

Karlas : Elite(best mahi magi I’ve ever had) : Blanchards : Straw Hat : Gerauds Bakery (chocolate croissant)

We mainly just snorkeled and one day we did ride horses on the beach(well well worth it!). There’s so much to do there but we just wanted to enjoy the blue water!

Also! Do not travel in September or October, the island closes up shop so there isn’t going to be food or much going on. The busiest times to go is the week after December – March.

BeYOUtiful

How many of you moms have told your kids over and over about how they should be themselves even when the world fills them with doubt? There will be times when the magazines and social media will bring children to believe they should be a certain way to be respected in society.
My daughter has been changing lately and I do believe it has to do with girls around her. Kids do their best to fit in to feel respected, but instead, they should be themselves in a wild full of shaming and doubt. I try to teach her the importance of being herself and how it is better to have people love you for who you are instead of the person they think you’re meant to be. Always stay yourself and believe you will continue to grow into a better woman or man that way.

Overall, listen to your parents. Believe it or not, they know a thing or two about life.

Mother’s Day/Presli’s Day

IMG_1359Mother’s Day is a day where your kids, friends, parents, grandparents, and sisters all let you know how important you are in this world. A lot of moms I have spoken to do not feel that they have meaning to this world and if you are one of those people, I am here to tell you that you are wrong. If you are a mother, you have the most powerful feeling in the world because you have brought this beautiful child into the world. Of course you suffered for hours in labor just to have that bundle of joy in your arms as fast as you could. You are their first love, their role model, and the truest friend. Being a mom is beautiful in so many ways and especially to your child. Your own mother is so proud of you for taking on such an important role in life. That my friends, is better than being a boss, a badass employee, an entrepreneur, or anything else you do in life. Priorities are kids and even for pet owners. You are moms too! Even if you are not a parent, your role in life matters to everyone. Please know that you are all special in so many ways.

Presli makes me feel very special everyday, not just Mother’s Day. I write her sweet notes in her lunch box weekly. It may not sound like much, but to her it brightens her day a little more and helps her think of me. She writes me poems, songs, notes, and pictures for me almost daily. I feel so honored that she thinks of me even just once in her busy little schedule at school. She makes me so happy each and every day. This mother’s Day was a little on the lazy side while we watched Finding Dory together. I cherish every moment I get with her even if I am a little grouchy, I try to put it aside because that’s a moment I get to spend with her. Thank you Presli for your role in life and for letting me be apart of it. Thank you Josh for slaving all day for me with food and relaxation. Thank you mama for bringing me into this world and being the most amazing role model and friend I could ever look up to. You made being a parent easier because you were so wonderful for me.
